Overall cleaning of the vessel including, but not limited to, the crew rooms, common bathrooms, stairwells, walls and any area instructed by the Chief Steward, First Cook, or Captain. The Housekeeper is also the person in charge to wash and return the crew laundry.
REPORTS TO CHIEF STEWARD
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
To clean and maintain a sanitized tidy vessel; To ensure the crews laundry is washed properly and returned in an organized manner. Cleaning the boats restrooms, walls, floors, stairwells, and ceilings. Cleaning the wheelhouse and all other areas instructed by the Chief Steward or first cook. This position reports to the first cook as well as the Chief steward.
Daily
- Prioritize laundry by the room number and day of the week, then continue on with other crew members laundry.
- Use the proper amount of laundry detergent and fabric softener.
- Clean out dryer vents after each load of laundry.
- Check all washers and dryers after finishing a load to make sure nothing was left behind.
- Clean galley tables and mats, swap out mats at a minimum once per shift.
- Clean galley chairs while cleaning the tables.
- Sweep and mop all levels of vessel 2 times minimum per shift. 500 level is ok once a shift.
- Use proper amount of cleaning chemicals, use proper gloves and facemasks is necessary.
- Wipe down walls regularly, once per shift at minimum.
- Clean 400 level bathroom after each meal. This includes walls and floors.
- Clean factory bathrooms twice in once shift.
- Clean officers mess.
- Bleach hand rails and door knobs after each meal.
- Clean dayrooms once per shift.
- Check officers mess soap and towel dispenser.
- Sweep and mop and clean tables in officers mess.
- Clean and organize chemical room when necessary.
- Clean stairwells very well, once per shift.
- Clean wheelhouse and wheelhouse bathroom.
- Take fruit and water to wheelhouse, clean captain food tray area and restock condiments when needed.
- Tidy up laundry room before your shift ends, leave it as you want it left for you.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
Report any issues and problems to Chief Steward, First cook, or Captain.
Must have food handlers card
Assist Chief steward or first cook during offloads
Must wear non slip shoes and appropriate clothing
